Alopecia Areata Monolocularis.
Alopecia Monolocularis is an Alopecia Areata variant that has one visible spot on the scalp of a patient. In most cases this variant is the beginning phase of this autoimmune disease. The spot becomes completely hairless as though it has been shaven.
Since Alopecia Monolocularis is the early stage, it is the most common among all of Alopecia Areata's variant. Although not noticeable, this variant is a common in the general population. Most of the affected hide the spot or patch under their hair or by adopting to a different hairstyle.
The size of the spot or patch caused can vary form the size of a dime to as big as an adult's palm. The size depends on the severity of the condition and the length of time the person had been affected.
Normally the spot if located after a day or two after Alopecia Monolocularis has developed. On reason for this is the common location is away from our view. Since it normally occurs at the back of a person's head, he or she may not realize till a day or two.
The duration in which the Alopecia Areata Monolocularis develops is unknown however, most patients report as seeing it within 24 to 72 hours after last inspecting a normal scalp. The unpleasant surprise itself could take a person down to depression. It is especially true for those who are very particular in the way they look and are self concious. This includes teenagers and ladies in general.
At this stages the hair follicle had just been in activated and the membrane blocking the follicle is still relative thin. This describes why treatments apllied at tis phase will show the best results. Studies has shown that patients with Alopecia Areata Monolocularis tend to show positive changes faster than those with treatments apllied at this phase will show the best results.
